Celebrate Pride in East Midtown

This June, we're celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride virtually and highlighting events around the City. Whether you're a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, please join us for a memorable month.

Garden Party from The Center
Monday, June 22

The Center has been a place of celebration and Pride for all LGBTQ New Yorkers since 1983. This year, they’re celebrating Pride a bit differently. Join them on June 22 for Garden Party as they gather virtually to celebrate Pride, and reinforce the importance of activism and advocacy. Hear from Kalen Allen, Justin Vivian Bond, Don Lemon, Lea DeLaria, Leo Sheng, Marti Gould Cummings, Jacob Tobia, the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus and more during this evening of stories, performances and special guests. They will also be offering some fantastic suggestions on how to make the most of your Garden Party experience via our website, with a curated food and cocktail/mocktail menu and a stellar Pride-themed playlist. Then, following the program, dance the night away on a digital dance floor, hosted by DJ BBARI.

Rally
Friday, June 26

Join NYC Pride, community activists, organizers, politicians and more for a virtual Rally on Friday, June 26, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Facebook and YouTube! This nontraditional Rally event comes at a time when conversation, education and activism is needed most.

The first Rally occurred one month after the Stonewall Riots in June 1969, when 500 people gathered for a “Gay Power” demonstration in Washington Square Park, followed by a candlelight vigil in Sheridan Square. Follow @NYCPRIDE on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube to continue the conversation with Jillian Mercado from “The L Word: Generation Q” and others.

NYC Pride Broadcast Event
Sunday, June 28

The first LGBTQ Pride March was held in 1970 and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. Over the years, its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those we have lost to illness, violence and neglect.

On Sunday, June 28 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. NYC Pride will celebrate the 50th anniversary of that first Pride March, and though it will be a very different type of celebration, the tradition of commemorating the LGBTQIA+ movement will continue.

In this unique year, NYC Pride is committed to saluting front-line workers alongside several leaders in the community being honored as Grand Marshals: Dan Levy, The Ali Forney Center, Yanzi Peng, and Victoria Cruz.

Their Special Pride Broadcast Event will feature performaces by Janelle Monáe, Deborah Cox, Billy Porter, Luísa Sonza and more. Expect to see appearances by Wilson Cruz, Miss Richfield 1981, Margaret Cho and others. WABC’s Ken Rosato and Lauren Glassberg will host the special joined by special guest co-host Carson Kressley, along with correspondents Sam Champion and Kemberly Richardson.
