East Midtown Celebrates World Pride
In June, an estimated 3 million visitors will be in New York City to celebrate World Pride, which coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall. Add hundreds of thousands of area residents to the mix and our city can look forward to an exciting month.
The East Midtown Partnership has planned programming to welcome and celebrate the LGBTQ community during World Pride, including:
- Exhibitions of at least 16 panels from the Names Project’s AIDS Quilt at 8 different venues around the district throughout June;
- A block party in collaboration with the SUNY Global Center on Friday, June 21, where we expect thousands of area residents and other stakeholders to join SUNY staff, students, and alumni for a day-long celebration in the heart of our district; and
- More cultural and entertainment programming is in the works!
Millions of LGBTQ visitors mean millions of LGBTQ shoppers, diners, and people wanting to experience the best New York City has to offer… and we want to bring them through the doors of East Midtown businesses. To do that, we’ll be adding a “World Pride” page to our website and developing printed guides and advertising designed to highlight East Midtown as the perfect destination for LGBTQ visitors and locals, and we’d like you to be part of this promotion.
For the month of June, participating businesses will designate one (1) single item and agree to donate 25% of total sales of that item to The Trevor Project.
Just fill out our participation form no later than Friday, May 3, and we’ll do all the rest.
